Dino - 3435 Connecticut Avenue, NW

Dino is a small Italian restaurant featuring the flavors of Venice and Southern Tuscany. The menu includes a variety of warm and cold starters with traditional items such as antipasti, olive and prosciutto, and some unique offerings such as a Tuscan crepe: chicken, artichoke, roasted tomato, smoked mozzarella, pesto & tomato sauce and a wonderful Cold Roasted Red Pepper Soup. An extensive menu of Italian cheeses is available as well. Home made pastas can be ordered in a full or half size. They are uniquely prepared dishes such as Pappardelle ai Cinghiale,(ribbon pasta with wild boar) or Lasagnette al Ragu (pasta, pork & veal ragu). Other entrees include chicken, fish, lamb, beef and vegetarian specialties. For dessert, you'll find a nice selection of Italian specialties such as tiramisu, gelato, and biscotti and warm chocolate souffle cake.

The restaurant, which accommodates a total of 104, has two dining rooms, each with its own ambiance. The first level offers plenty of natural light with large windows. The bar area can accommodate 15. The second level is a bit more colorful and cozy and includes a private dining room, accommodating up to 30. There is also patio seating in the summer.

Dean Gold, the owner of Dino, has a pretty good website that he keeps up-to-date with specials and restaurant reviews. The menu changes often, so it's a good idea to check their website to view the latest selection.
